The Department of Computer Engineering, which was officially established in 2008, continues its education and training activities in the undergraduate programme in the field preferred by successful students in ZBEÜ Faculty of Engineering. The name of our university was changed as ‘Bülent Ecevit University’ in 2012 and as ‘Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University’ in 2018, and our department still continues its education and training activities under the roof of the Faculty of Engineering in our Farabi (Central) Campus.
Computer engineers are mainly interested in software, programming and algorithms. Computer networks, database management and embedded systems are other areas of study.
Computer engineering education includes programming languages, software design and software-hardware integration. What software can do and what software cannot do, how software can effectively perform on a specific task, how software can write and read stored data, how software can work smarter, how human and software can communicate with each other, and ASIC, FPGA, circuit design and hardware-software integration.
Students gain industrial knowledge and application skills with two 20 working day summer internships. Thus, students are involved in advanced programmes that will enable them to work easily in industry or academic research environments in their working life.
Our students have the opportunity to study in universities in European countries with the ERASMUS programme and in universities in our country with the FARABİ programme as exchange students for up to one year.
Our department, which admitted students at undergraduate level for the first time in the 2016-2017 academic year, started to admit students to the second education undergraduate programme in 2017-2018.
There is no Preparatory School in our department and education is 100% Turkish. During eight semesters, students are required to complete 240 credits of compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum and complete two 20-day summer internships.
The Department of Computer Engineering has a total of 3 departments: Computer Hardware, Computer Software and Computer Science. The laboratories available in our department are Electrical-Electronic Circuit Laboratory, Microprocessors Laboratory and Computer Laboratories. Our department currently has 7 faculty members including 1 Prof., 1 Assoc. Prof. and 5 Asst. Prof. Our department continues its education and training activities with a total of 14 academic staff, including 7 research assistants. The faculty members of the department reveal their research activities with the articles they publish and the conferences they attend, and they carry out projects supported by our University, TÜBİTAK and SPO.
