INFORMATION ABOUT BLM401 COMPUTER ENGINEERING PROJECT DESIGN and BLM498 GRADUATION PROJECT COURSES
In BLM 401 course, you are expected to make preliminary preparation and preliminary design for the project you will carry out in BLM498 Gradtation Project course in order to graduate in the next semester. Within the scope of the course, you are required to submit the proposal document related to your project topic, the document describing the requirements (the system's tasks and inputs) related to the system you will design, and the document presenting a preliminary design of your system electronically to the lecturer and the responsible research assistant according to the schedule mentioned below. Submissions should be made via e-mail by attaching the necessary files to the message.
Project teams:
You are required to carry out your work in teams of 3 or 4 people. Teams of 1 or 2 people are absolutely not accepted. Teams can be formed without distinction between I. and II. students (mixed).
Registering for the course:
During the course registration period, all students will register to the same course list as if a single instructor is teaching the course. Then, the students on this list will be divided among the lecturers of our department in a balanced way so that all lecturers will have approximately equal number of students. The allocation will be made on the basis of the project teams determined, the agreement of the students with the advisors during the subject determination process and the quotas allocated to the professors.
Supervisor and topic determination:
In the Spring semester of the 3rd year, some of the students who took the course applied to the lecturers for the Computer Engineering Project Design (BLM401) and Graduation Project (BLM498) courses that they are expected to take in the 4th year by filling out a form and determined both their advisors, project teams and topics. It is clear which lecturer these students will be enrolled with.
Students who have not yet determined their project topics can agree on their teams and project topics with one of the professors who have a vacancy as soon as possible. Students who have not agreed with an advisor during the registration period will not have a preference about the advisor to be assigned to them and will be a student of any of the professors with vacant quota. These students,
a) they can form new teams of at least 3 people with other students who are enrolled with the same lecturer and whose teams/subjects are not yet known, and they can make a project on a subject they will determine.
b) they can join existing teams of students enrolled with that lecturer (such as making a team of 3 people into a team of 4 people).

All members of the teams must be present at the interviews.
3. Project teams (all members) will have face-to-face meetings with the Research Assistant responsible for them. Below is the schedule for the face-to-face interviews that the project teams (all members) will have with the research assistant responsible for them. This timetable is consistent with the submission date of the relevant documents mentioned in point 4 as mentioned before. For the exact day and time of the meetings, the relevant Research Assistant should be contacted. Assistants should be contacted and an agreement should be reached. Meetings outside the specified dates will not be allowed.
>Before Project Proposal (PP) submission (14/10/2024-18/10/2024 week)
>Before Requirements Specification and Preliminary Analysis (RSPA) submission (week 28/10/2024-01/11/2024)
>Before Preliminary Design (PD) submission (week 16/12/2024-20/12/2024)
4. The documents listed below and mentioned in item 3 must be submitted on the specified dates. Teams who fail to submit any document will fail the course. Points will be deducted for late submission of documents. For each day late: Evaluation score = (100 - 5 * day^2 ). The documents should be submitted in *.pdf format both to the supervisor and to the research assistant via e-mail before the deadline.
The type of documents to be submitted, their impact on the course and deadlines are as follows:
| Project Proposal (PP) | %20 | 20 October 2024, 23:59 |
| Requirements Specification and Preliminary Analysis (RSPA) | %20 | 29 November 2024, 23:59 |
| Preliminary Design (PD) | %45 | 29 December 2024, 23:59 |
Throughout the semester. The scoring (PS) to be made from the meetings with the teams will also be reflected in the course at a rate of 15%. The full scoring is as follows:
